Car hire with no excess in Gran Canaria

A car waiting when you land, at a price agreed in advance and with no excess held on your card. We arrange it for you with suppliers on the island and add it to your booking.

What it includes

  • No excess: a scrape in a car park does not turn into an unexpected bill
  • Pick-up and drop-off at Gran Canaria Airport
  • From a city runabout to a seven-seater
  • Price agreed before you arrive, with no paperwork at the desk
  • Requested over WhatsApp and matched to your flight time

What hiring with no excess means

In a standard rental, the excess is the amount you are liable for if the car is damaged: a dent in a door, a windscreen, a tyre. It is usually held on your credit card for the whole stay and released a few days after you give the car back.

With no excess, that liability disappears from the contract. There is no hold during the stay and no claim over a scratch on the day you return it. For a family parking daily in the narrow streets of the south, the difference is considerable.

Pick-up and drop-off at the airport

The car is collected at Gran Canaria Airport and returned there, so arriving and leaving do not depend on a transfer running to somebody else's timetable or on waiting for a key handover.

You give us the flight number and arrival time when you book, and the supplier takes it into account. If the flight is delayed you do not lose the car: it is the first thing we coordinate for you.

Which car to ask for, by group

For a couple, a city car is plenty and makes parking easier in Puerto Rico or Playa del Inglés, which is where the size of the car is most noticeable.

For a family with large suitcases or a group of six or eight, a roomy vehicle or two small cars works better. If you plan to drive up to the centre of the island (Roque Nublo, Tejeda, Artenara), you want an engine with enough power: these are roads of tight bends and continuous climb.

Tell us how many you are, what luggage you have and what you have planned, and we will recommend the best option before confirming the booking.

Why a car is worth having in Gran Canaria

The villas in the south sit in quiet residential areas, which is what makes them pleasant and, at the same time, keeps them away from public transport. With a car, the supermarket is five minutes away and the beaches of Maspalomas or Amadores under twenty.

The island can also be crossed in a day in any direction. Puerto de Mogán, the dunes, the green north around Firgas or Las Palmas are all within reach of a morning trip. Without a car, the stay is confined to the area around the house.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a car to get around the south of Gran Canaria?

To stay at the villa and use the nearest beach, no. To do the weekly shop, change beach or head inland, yes: public transport between resorts exists, but it is slow, and taxi fares add up with a large group.

How far in advance should it be requested?

As far ahead as possible; in high season or over Christmas the difference is considerable. Write to us as soon as your flights are confirmed: that is when availability and prices are at their best.

Can I collect the car at the airport and return it somewhere else?

The usual arrangement is to collect and return at the airport, which is the cheapest option and the one that fits flights best. If you need a different combination, tell us and we will check with the supplier before confirming.

What documents are needed?

A valid driving licence and the driver's ID card or passport. The exact requirements (minimum age, how long you have held the licence and the method of payment) depend on the supplier and are confirmed in writing before the booking is finalised.
